Job Description
Project Manager Job Summary:
The Project Manager will coordinate projects from the initial application through completion, working closely with the Executive Director and Lead Carpenter throughout the entire process. This position offers a flexible work schedule and is ideal for someone with a strong background in residential construction along with a track record to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Oversee Lead Carpenter, and as necessary individual and group volunteers.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Review project applications to ensure eligibility criteria and the need is in alignment with the request.
- Coordinate and conduct site visits to determine need and constructability. Document findings with photos.
- Review Scope of Work documents for special projects to ensure completeness and accuracy.
- Determine the appropriate scope of work based on the application and site visit findings.
- Create sketches of proposed work, either hand-drawn or computer-generated, as needed.
- Estimate project timeline and materials needed for the project.
- Prepare clear, accurate, and detailed written project estimates, including cost breakdowns when necessary.
- Solicit, evaluate, and select subcontractor/supplier pricing and/or bids as needed.
- Coordinate and manage all administrative project requirements, including permits, subcontractors, insurance, W-9s, budgets, and any other related documentation as applicable.
- Order project materials and schedule deliveries and subcontractors.
- Ensure projects are completed safely, properly, and on schedule.
- Maintain organized and up-to-date project records and files.
- Communicate regularly and professionally with Case Managers and Caregivers.
- Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, using creative thinking to develop practical and effective solutions.
- Professionally and respectfully represent the organization in all interactions with clients, donors, subcontractors, and other external partners to uphold its reputation.
- Complete the state license exam as required every two years. The next exam will be in 2028.

- Collaborate with staff to:
- Communicate project timelines and schedules with clients, volunteers, and subcontractors.
- Recruit volunteers for building projects, as needed.
- Attend fundraising, networking, and conference events.
Preferred Skills and Abilities:
- Strong interpersonal and professional skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
- Knowledge of construction processes, architecture, design principles, building codes, and ADA requirements.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate and encourage others.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to lift to 60 lbs.
- Proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficient computer and technology skills, including Google Suite and Microsoft Office.
Education and Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of construction project management experience.
- Experience working both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Experience or knowledge of home renovations or accessibility and safety modifications preferred but not required.
